Owner’s Engineer support for new hydrogen and CO2 pipeline design

Written by Jee Ltd | Mar 23, 2026 1:06:27 PM
The problem

Jee was contacted by a client which was looking to install new pipelines to carry CO2 and Hydrogen from a biomass power station in the North of England. The client was expecting pre-FEED and FEED documents from contractors and wanted an independent third party to act as Owner’s Engineer and verify the documents.

The solution

Jee fulfilled the role of Owner’s Engineer for the project. As part of this role, Jee’s engineers:

  • Critically reviewed a suite of pre-FEED and FEED documentation from the engineering group, and provided feedback based on our practical experience of pipeline design and operations
  • Responded rapidly to changing specifications as external stakeholders impacted the project design
  • Supported FEED stage Design reviews, HAZID/ENVIDs and HAZOP
Conclusion

Jee were able to provide informed input on the FEED design to ensure that the project engineers produced the most practical solution possible. The team’s input in detail discussions gave the project a much-needed hands on input, while their involvement in Design reviews, HAZID /ENVIDs and formal processes identified key areas for the design to address.

The resulting pipeline design was deemed as optimal for the project.
