Scope
The client required ad hoc documentation oversight and support for the design of components completed by a contractor. The project involved commenting and reviewing the technical content of the paperwork associated with the components and providing professional engineering consultancy with the standard of work.
Solution
As a part of Jee’s extensive suite of industry services, professional consultation and document oversight is a keyway of assuring the client that their paperwork is to standard for pigging operations. For this specific project, Jee’s head of pigging – Sean Tucker - with vast years of industry knowledge and experience was assigned to consult on behalf of the client. This includes reviewing design documentation for offshore pipe equipment such as in line valve structure (ILVS) and spools as well as mechanical connector design documentation.
Tasks included as part of this consultation include:
- Review any supporting or reference documentation
- Comment on completeness of document against specific objectives and intent
- Comment on technical content
- Complete comments within a comment response sheet (CRS) provided by the client
- Participate in any discussions relating to the CRS as and when required on behalf of the client
In addition to providing document oversight, Jee’s expertise extended to ensuring that all operations aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. This involved not only reviewing technical documentation but also advising on operational feasibility and risk mitigation strategies.
Given the complexity of offshore pipeline systems, Sean Tucker’s role was pivotal in identifying potential design limitations and recommending refinements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
As part of the consultation process, Jee facilitated technical discussions with stakeholders, ensuring that all concerns were addressed and integrated into the final design. Their involvement also included verifying that mechanical connectors and in-line valve structures were designed to withstand operational stresses, thereby minimising the likelihood of failures.
Beyond documentation, Jee’s support encompassed practical considerations such as optimising pigging routes, assessing equipment compatibility and advising on maintenance protocols. Their holistic approach ensured that the client’s operations remained robust and compliant, paving the way for safe and efficient pigging activities within the offshore environment.
